This is an exercise to help get a feel for the correct sequence, rhythm and weight shift during the swing.
1. Start with 3 balls lined up about 5 inches apart (teeing each ball up on a low tee is a good idea).
2. Take a 7, 8 or 9 iron and begin swinging back and through, WITHOUT stopping or pausing away from the 3 balls. |
|
|
3. While continuing to swing, start walking your feet towards the first ball until you are close enough to hit it, continue until you have hit all three balls, never stopping the momentum of your swing. |

The momentum of the swing back and through will help iron out any inconsistencies in your swing rhythm. Also, because you have to continue to walk forward, the drill puts the swing in the correct sequence and teaches how to maintain dynamic balance throughout your swing.
