As golfers, we all strive to have a flowing, "one-piece" back swing. But this term "one-piece" sends a message that we should start moving everything together at the same time.
The actual order of the backswing goes as follows: CLUBHEAD first followed by the HANDS, ARMS, SHOULDERS, HIPS, KNEES and then the FEET.
It is a very common error that many golfers make trying to turn their hips and shoulders too soon before they have allowed the club, hands and arms to swing back. This throws the sequence off schedule and ruins the cohesiveness of the swing. To easily remember this sequence, think about what it is that travels the greatest distance in the backswing; the clubhead, followed by the hands, arms, etc.

Swing Forward |
Swing Back |
Swing Through |
To get a feel for this, start at address with the club raised slightly above the ground. Swing the clubhead forward a couple of feet and then swing back and through without stopping.
